FAQs

1. How often should I get a facial?

It depends on your skin type and concerns, but most clients benefit from a facial every 4 to 6 weeks. Regular facials help maintain clear, balanced, and healthy skin. If you’re targeting specific concerns like acne or hyperpigmentation, we may recommend a more tailored schedule.

2. What facial is best for my skin type?

Each skin type has unique needs, which is why I offer customized facials! Whether you have dry, oily, combination, sensitive, or acne-prone skin, I’ll assess your concerns during your appointment and customize the products used just for your unique needs!

3. What should I do to prepare for my facial appointment?

• Avoid using active ingredients like retinol, AHAs, or BHAs 72 hours before your facial.

• Arrive with clean skin (no makeup if possible, I understand if that’s not possible).

• Avoid excessive sun exposure or tanning before your treatment.

• Let me know about any allergies, medications, or recent treatments (like Botox or fillers) before your appointment.

4. Can I wear makeup after my facial?

It’s best to let your skin breathe for at least 24 hours after your facial. Your skin is freshly exfoliated and absorbing nutrients, so applying makeup too soon can clog pores. If necessary, opt for minimal, non-comedogenic makeup.

5. What’s the best way to maintain my results at home?

• Follow a consistent skincare routine suited to your skin type.

• Wear sunscreen daily to protect your skin from damage.

• Stay hydrated.

• Use the recommended products from your facial to extend results.

• Schedule regular facials for ongoing skin health.

6. Do you offer treatments for acne, sensitive skin, or hyperpigmentation?

Yes! I specialize in facials designed for all skin types, including those struggling with acne, sensitivity, or dark spots. I’ll personalize your treatment to target your specific concerns and help you achieve a healthy, glowing complexion.

7. What is derma-planing, and is it safe for all skin types?

Derma-planing is a gentle exfoliation treatment that removes dead skin cells and fine vellus hair (peach fuzz) using a precision blade. It helps smooth skin texture and enhances product absorption. It’s safe for most skin types, but it may not be recommended if you have active acne breakouts.

8. What is the difference between corrective skincare facials vs. facial massage therapies?

Corrective skincare facials focus on improving specific skin concerns such as acne, hyperpigmentation, fine lines, or dehydration. These treatments often include deep exfoliation, extractions, serums, and advanced modalities to target skin health at a deeper level.

Facial massage therapy, on the other hand, is designed to promote lymphatic drainage, facial muscle relaxation, and natural lifting. It enhances circulation, relieves tension, and helps sculpt the face for a firmer, more youthful appearance—without the use of active skincare products. While both have skincare benefits, corrective facials are more results-driven for skin conditions, while facial massage therapy is focused on relaxation, circulation, and sculpting.

9. Do you offer extractions, and are they painful?

Yes, I offer extractions to remove blackheads and clogged pores. I use gentle techniques to minimize discomfort. You might feel some pressure, but I prioritize your comfort and work carefully to ensure a soothing experience.

10. What’s your cancellation policy?

To respect my time and other clients, I require at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Last-minute cancellations or no-shows may be subject to a $50 cancellation fee. Please review my full cancellation policy before booking.

11. Should I stop using retinol before getting my brows waxed?

Yes! If you use retinol, prescription retinoids (like tretinoin), or exfoliating acids (AHAs/BHAs), you should stop using them at least 5-7 days before your waxing appointment. These products make your skin more sensitive and increase the risk of skin lifting or irritation during waxing. If you’re unsure, let me know about any active skincare products you’re using, and I can recommend the best timing for your wax.

12. How long should my hair be before getting a Brazilian wax?

For the best results, hair should be at least ¼ inch long (about the length of a grain of rice), which is usually 2-3 weeks of growth after shaving. This ensures the wax can grip the hair properly for a smoother, longer-lasting result.

13. Does a Brazilian wax hurt, and how can I minimize discomfort?

Everyone’s pain tolerance is different, but Brazilian waxing is quick and gets easier over time as hair grows back finer. To reduce discomfort:

• Exfoliate 24 hours before your appointment.

• Avoid caffeine and alcohol, as they can make the skin more sensitive.

• Take an over-the-counter pain reliever 30-45 minutes before if needed.

• Stick to a regular waxing schedule (every 4-6 weeks) to minimize regrowth and discomfort.

14. Can I get a Brazilian wax during my period?

Yes, you can! Just be aware that your skin may be more sensitive during this time, so waxing might feel slightly more uncomfortable. If you choose to wax during your period, please wear a fresh tampon or menstrual cup before your appointment.

15. How long should I wait to have sex after a Brazilian wax?

It’s best to wait at least 24 hours before having sex after a Brazilian wax. Your skin will be more sensitive, and friction, heat, or bacteria can cause irritation, ingrown hairs, or breakouts. Giving your skin time to recover helps prevent discomfort and ensures a smoother healing process.
